Happy Easter folks! I’m hopeful that everyone has had their fill of chocolate bunnies or any Easter treats. I’ve never really thought about why we have a bunny to help us celebrate Easter, so I thought I’d get my research cap on and try to see just why we need the bunny.
Quick Easter Bunny History
Easter actually predates the Christian holiday of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was adapted from a pagan festival to celebrate a goddess of fertility named Eastre, which coincided with The Crucifixion and Resurrection. Around 2 centuries A.D Christian missionaries turned the Eastre spring festival into a Christian celebration as part of an overall process to convert the pagans to Chrisitianity.
Over the centuries, Eastre became Easter, the bunny, being a fertile animal, was also adopted from the pagan festival, and the German tradition of children being given treats on Easter, if they were good, have all contributed to the celebration of The Easter Bunny that we know today.
I Love Hershey’s
Any excuse to have an all out chocolate munchfest is fine by me. Hershey’s always seems to have some fun Easter candy specials that are worthy of my fine palate, oh yum! Here’s some Hershey candies that have been made especially for Easter. Go out and check their website too!

1Funny how so many of our modern traditions all trace back to the pagans! It makes me wonder who the pagans referenced back to?
best wishes
