This morning we look back at the official statement that Mrs. Ford made in announcing the death of her husband, Former President Gerald Ford. I missed giving the official statement a few days back in December, but I think during the scrambling of actually writing the misty eyed story of the death, I forgot to write it here. So, here’s the statement. Simple, sincere, and heartfelt.

“My family joins me in sharing the difficult news that Gerald R. Ford, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, has passed away at 93 years of age. His was a life filled with love of God, his family, and his country.”

I think that signifies what Gerald Ford was all about, and what we all can strive for… being the best person you can be.. husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather… If I live to only be 1% of the man that Gerald Ford was, I think I would have lived a good life.

So, this morning, as Gerald Ford returns to his home in Michigan, let us pray for the Ford Family, and be inspired at the strength of the woman who was at Mr. Ford’s side for more than fifty years… Mrs. Ford - His rock, best-friend, companion, and His Love…
