Found this in my earlier blogs, and I thought this was perfect for the previous post on waiting on the world to change. Though this actual quotation is on a different note, instead of waiting, sometimes we rush, and in our rush, we fail to see the beauty of life. We fail to see the wonder of this earth. And we fail to live…
First I was dying to finish high school and start college.
And then I was dying to finish college and start working.
And then I was dying to marry and have children.
And then I was dying for my children to grow old enough so I could return to work.
And then I was dying to retire.
And now, I am dying…and suddenly realize I forgot to live.

1Thanks for opening our eyes, I’ll have to bookmark this if I ever enter this kind of endless race again.

2Allen, it’s a great thought to keep in mind… stay grounded and keep what’s important at the top of the list.

3I remember reading this years ago, and am I ever glad to have found it again. Thanks for posting this. Since I have first read it, I have begun to live, not letting life pass me by, and looking at what is really important in life. I just wish everyone could realize this, but some people just are zoned in on certain things and can’t let go. I guess for them, maybe that is the way they get their “live” on.
