In an earlier post I put up a love letter that I wrote while I was in high school. While it is always good to put yourself out there and take a chance in LOVE, it’s never OK to give all of yourself to one person. A person with a positive outlook towards himself and outward into the world will never give everything to just one person. It may sound selfish, but if you give all of yourself to one person, what is there left for you?
He was my North, my South,my East, my West,
My working week and Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song,
I thought that LOVE would last forever — I was wrong.
— W. H. Auden
I never wish to frown on Love, and in this case I’m not frowning on it at all. But the point is made that you must love yourself first before loving anyone else. And lastly, you can never give all of yourself to someone else, because you leave nothing left for yourself. Love should never be one sided, but rather it should encompass every aspect of your relationship… including yourself.

1I could not have found a better quote to relate to my situation. I gave all I had to a lad..everything, every part of me, by heart, soul, mind, and body. I lost some friends,m isolated myself for a while. Then I woke up and realized that’s not a healthy love. But when I tried to de-isolate myself, if such a word exists…things went downhill. He became abusive; and today i finally reached the epiphony that, I was totally and utterly wrong. DON”T EVER GIVE ALL of yourself away. You need some of you left behind for you to love.
