When we experience the death of friends, family, and even those we do not know, it is natural for us to seek an answer to why God lets this happen. Ultimately I accept the fact that this earthly life that we live is but a rest stop in our way to heaven. I recall a very wonderful quote in the movie Gladiator, “What we do in this life, echoes in eternity“, and how it inspired me to look deeper into my life.

So I say to you, and those who would read this, that death in this world is not important. God is much more interested in our soul than that of our earthly body. It is our soul that will go on, and it is the events of this world that may seem important, but in all actuality, we must always remember that we are foremost spiritual beings.

Why is there suffering on this earth, why do children die, and why do good people die? We can’t know for sure, because God has his own plans and He works in his own time. Events are more connected that they may seem, and there is always a purpose that oftentimes we do not understand or can’t even fathom. Ultimately your soul and my soul is the focus of God. What good does it do for us if our Earthly bodies are flawless in all aspects, but our spirit is weary, worn, and dead?

In the end, my faith drives me toward a life of service, of wanting to help, and of inspiration. And I hope that with this post you are reminded that material possessions and even earthly sufferings are but a snapshot to what is truly important. Saving your soul should be your number one focus.
