On Friday, we were contacted by Bill Rollins. What seemed like a normal email, came through vividly into our hearts. This is always our goal, to inspire others by inspiring you. And Bill, is indeed inspiring us in this same way.

He will be joining an Ironman race on August 26 in Louisville Kentucky (First time in Kentucky), and he is raising money for The Fisher House. We briefly mentioned The Fisher House on an earlier article that we wrote. And, sometimes we can also forget that it’s not enough to just mention it, but help the foundation along the way. Bill, is doing exactly just that.

Fisher House™ Foundation donates “comfort homes,” built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times - during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury.

Here’s what Bill said in his email to us.

I am attempting my first Ironman race this year. An Ironman is a triathlon that consists of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and a 26.2 mile run. I am not an athlete, but rather a father of three that got off of the sofa a year ago and started to enjoy the thrill of racing and living a healthier lifestyle. The race takes place in Louisville, KY on August 26th.

As part of my journey to becoming an Ironman, I am raising money and awareness for the Fisher House Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps the families of injured American military men and women. I decided to campaign for Fisher House because I believe the help that we can provide to these injured service members and their families is the least that we can do for them. I also want to show our troops that there is support for them back home.

All of the money that I raise will go directly to the Fisher House Foundation. I am paying for all of my race expenses (entry fee, travel, equipment, etc.) out of my own pocket.

And yes, we also believe in this noble cause, and if we can bring any support for yet another example of an everyday man going the extra mile, then we support you Bill… We support you…
