Six Degrees of Inspiration

Connected By Inspiration

Here’s some more videos of this year’s Holy Week in The Philippines. For most Filipinos, this week has been an arduous reflection of the sacrifices of Jesus Christ, and this week has also been a week of sacrifice for these individuals as well. They have reenacted the stations of the cross, gone on […]

Well, the Holy Week has is drawing to an end, Easter is almost over, but in the refrigerator you’ll have some colored eggs left. Make some egg salad, egg sandwich, and anything else you can do with a hard-boiled egg. Personally, a little salt, and I’m fine.
I sincerely hope that everyone had a […]

In The Philippines, the death of Jesus Christ on The Cross is remembered on a daily basis, because of an instituted national broadcast of “The 3 O’clock Prayer”. This is usually known as the devotion to the Divine Mercy. The prayer is as follows,
3 O’CLOCK PRAYER
You died Jesus, but the source of life […]

Black Saturday

In The Philippines, Holy Saturday, is called Black Saturday or Sábado de Gloria. The city is literally dead, and business is usually not transacted during this day. It’s even hard to catch a cab during these days. But, there are a lot of things to do in terms of religious activities.

I also liked this following set of photos made into a video with some background music. The pictures were of last year’s celebrations, but it rarely ever changes from year to year, all of the activities are pretty much about the same. Enjoy!

I was trying to find some videos to sum up as to just how huge the celebration of Holy Week is in The Philippines, I found this great video that covered The Holy Week last year in an island in The Philippines called Bantayan Island. It covers some of the processions as well as […]

Maundy Thursday

Today is Holy Thursday, otherwise called Maundy Thursday. The most basic of commemoration of this day is that of “The Last Supper” in which Jesus Christ and His Apostles partake of their last meal together before the passion and the crucifixion.
In The Philippine Culture, there are four main ceremonies that are reenacted during this […]

Sacrifice

To me, Holy Week is all about sacrifice, giving up the material things to be in touch with the spirituality of life. And the most important aspect to always remember is the sacrifice of the one named Jesus Christ, who gave up his life so that others may live. This is a pain […]

One of the best places to truly feel the experience of the Stations of the Cross is in Cebu, Philippines. There, you will not only walk far from station to station, but you will have to do it walking uphill. At Celestial Gardens, Banawa Hills, Cebu City — hundreds, if not thousands, go […]

One of the many traditions during the holy week is the many people who will walk through the stations of the cross, as well as supplementing it with prayer. I’ve done this on many occasions, but here in Michigan there isn’t really many places where there are actual stations except those that are located […]

I’m in love with Philippine Culture, and the most amazing times in The Philippines is usually during the Christmas season as well as The Holy Week.
There’s just so much to do during the whole week. The churches are open, the streets are crowded by tourists as well as the locals, and a sense of […]

A music video that shows the celebration of Palm Sunday, the reenactment of Jesus entering Jerusalem, but most importantly the heed for peace.
I often marvel at the courage that Palm Sunday symbolizes. Because if I told you that you were going to die in a few days if you entered that land, would you […]

Here’s a video that shows how Palms are weaved for the Palm Sunday celebration. These are usually sold outside the churches for around $0.20 to $0.50 since they are already beautifully weaved. According to the interview, this specific duo will usually make around $15.00
(video after the jump)

Here’s a wonderful video that let’s you see a glimpse of some Palm Sunday rituals in The Philippines. You can see in the video how the people are waving the palms, this is usually the time when the priest will go around the church and start spraying the palms with holy water (the people […]
