As you know Gerald Ford died on Wednesday, a man that will be known as a healer of a nation, a steady hand. He had a favorite Bible verse,
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;” — Proverbs 3:5
He tried to live that verse in all aspects of his life.
I actually have two favorite Bible Snippets that I have memorized word for word…
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through
the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.– Psalm 23
And of course the most famous Bible Verse in the world…
For God so loved the world
that He gave his one and only Son,
that whosoever believes in him
shall not perish
but have eternal life.– John 3:16

1We got reminded of this favorite verse while listening toGeral Ford’s eulogy. Then last week, Ed asked Joan:what verse was it? We couldn’t remember but Joan thought it was in Proverbs, and Ed in Psalms. Then Ed said - I know where it is on this side of the page bout here. But we weren’t home, so didn’t have our usual Bible. This morning, we got the family Bible out and started looking at that spot. Whew! Good thing it wasn’t in Prov. 31 or PS. 150! Trust not in your own understanding, , ,
