For most, Todd Zeile is an unknown person, and even I didn’t know him until just today. Todd Zeile of the New York Mets hit a home run today. It wasn’t just any ordinary home run, but it was his last at bat. How about that for going out on a good note. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to hit my very own home run at my last at bat during my last day of my career… I’m certainly not going to be a baseball player, but I think this is a perfect analogy as to what we all strive for in life.
But, what if we fall short? Then what? Is all lost? Is everything that we have achieved worthless? Of course not, that’s why a home run at your last at bat, really is nothing more than a cherry on top. It will never define your life, it will never define your success in life, it’s just a good note to end it with. But what are other ways you could end your career? And I get to thinking, that driving home to my beautiful wife of many years is a nice home run in my book.
