This picture just caught my eye. I didn’t know what to make of it, I don’t know the background of this man, but the beauty of his music must be wonderful. I only wish that pictures had sounds to go along with its beauty.
Here’s the caption that the photographer had.
Nicola is a Street performer and Japanese Bamboo Flute maker (Shakuhachi - not pictured here) from St. Augustine. Originally from Maine he said he ended up here a couple years ago when his van broke down with only a pair of shorts to his name but things are better for him today. We met him making some very beautiful music despite the cold weather and rain this weekend.

5There is such beauty here. There’s so much to talk about. There’s something to be said about the loyalty of animals. His dog looks so zonked.

6I’m torn as well. I feel real sympathy for his situation. But, then again, maybe this is what makes him happy. Who really knows, maybe he goes home and has a nice house or at least a decent house, and this is what he likes to do.
I think Mike is right. the dog is pretty relaxed. I love how he is tethered to his dog as well.

7Sometimes I pass them, and I realize their plight, but I admire their strength for carrying on.

8Joanne, The photo is such a symbol of the perseverance of man, that even in what looks to be such poor conditions, there is beauty there… humanity… and music is such a great outlet for us to feel that spirit of hope…

9Mike, the dog reminds me so much of my own dog… just relaxing I guess… I like the sunglasses that this individual is wearing.. it’s so fitting of something of a blues nature..

10Mark, to be torn is normal. We have to realize that we have to pick our battles, and that there is hope if we care enough to help. Sympathy is not what is needed. maybe compassion is the better term.

11Barbs, you’re not alone. their strength must be overwhelming. Their faith must be even more so..
